A Rejoinder to Candidate Omoyele Sowore’s Prescription titled: “If Nigeria Does Not Work, Let It Break Up”
NINAS Secretariat, 25 November 2022
Editor’s comments:
Like all the other presidential candidates, Sowore too provides a solution to Nigeria’s dysfunctionalities that does not address the lingering Union Dispute, and where the Sovereignty of indigenous Ethnic Nations remains overridden. The link to Sowore’s “prescription” is in the NOTES section below.
The more honest title to his piece should have been: ”Since Nigeria Does Not Work, Let It Break Up”
Reason is that candidate Sowore identified the imposed unitary constitutional order as the tap from which Nigeria’s multiple failures and dysfunctions flow.
With the sharp degeneration of society that accompanied the experiment of 1979-1983 under the 1979 edition of the same imposed Unitary Constitution, and with the rapid degeneration of society resulting from the 1999 resumption of Nigeria’s 1979-1983 failed experiment with Unitarism, one would want to ask Omoyele Sowore whether 23 years was not enough time to reach the conclusion that “Nigeria is not working” and so, it smacks of dishonesty to be talking of “If Nigeria does not work” when the clear and self-evident reality should already bring us to where the conversation should begin with ”Since Nigeria does not work”.
That conversation should in itself dictate the urgency of advancing the task of dismantling the toxic Unitary Constitution of Nigeria, (1999) by the initiation of an immediate TRANSITIONING Arrangement instead of wobbling to another round of National Elections in 2023 under the same 1999 Constitution, and that would renew and reinforce the life of that Constitution.
The NINAS Constitutional Force Majeure Proclaimed and Activated December 16, 2020, provides a Comprehensive Framework and Process for engaging in a most orderly manner, that urgent imperative of DECOMMISSIONING the repudiated 1999 Constitution and for the distillation of Negotiated Successor Constitutional Arrangements, dictated by the Self-Determination Imperative, to terminate and ease out, the imposed Unitarism that has brought the distressed Federation of Nigeria to its demise.
Question is: Why is candidate Sowore not in the NINAS Train for immediate Dismantling and Decommissioning of the failed Unitary Constitution of Nigeria?
