As a Biafra Anniversary Note, I posted a Red Cross video clip from 1969 Biafra, showing visibly malnourished, naked and dying Biafra children who were being cleaned up and assisted by foreign volunteers at a Red Cross facility. (Many of those children were flown out of the Biafra Enclave to other countries that were ready to receive them including Gabon).
That starving Biafra children video clip poignantly depicts the nature of the foundation upon which the Unitary Nigeria we now have was built and still is being built.
I was born Mid-October 1966 and so by the time this picture was taken, I was about 3 years old and could have been one of these children but for the Grace and Mercy of God that prevailed.
Gowon that presided over it all, continues to move around blaspheming God in the name of praying for the Nigeria that stands upon the foundation of this unprecedented abomination and yet people wonder about the human carnage now sweeping across Nigeria.
Gowon’s Government shot down Red Cross planes whose sympathetic foreign donors and volunteers including the World Council of Churches and several others, struggled frantically to bring in food and medicine to save the dying Biafran children.
When on one particularly appalling occasion the Global President of Red Cross flew into Nigeria to ask why Red Cross relief planes would be shot down, Gowon’s Government detained him in Lagos and it took global rage to get him released.
So horrific was this Genocide in Biafra that on the 29th May 1969, a young 20-year old American undergraduate named Bruce Mayrock, protesting the killing of children in Biafra, set himself ablaze on the lawn of the United Nations Headquarters in New York within the view of diplomats. He died shortly after midnight from the extensive burns he suffered. A Bruce Mayrock Memorial sits in Owerri today, built at the wish of General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu by his widow Bianca.
Awolowo as the Vice-Chairman of the Gowon’s Federal Executive Council and Minister of Finance was the Champion of Let-Us-Starve-Them-To-Death; even when confronted by foreign journalists for those atrocities on innocent children, he justified the action by saying that Hunger is a Legitimate Weapon of War and that as long as the Biafran Fighters came home to meet their children and wives alive, they would fight on.
At the close of bomb-and-mortar hostilities in 1970, the same Gowon’s Government with Awolowo as Finance Minister took in all the Biafran currency (Biafran Pounds) from beleaguered Biafra War survivors and handed the flat sum of £20 (twenty pounds) per account held pre-war. The properties of the Igbo situated outside the East Central State were by Decree, Confiscated as Abandoned Properties and shared out to members of the 1967 Alliance.
In enforcement of that Abandoned Property Decree, one Major David Bonaventure Mark was the Chairman of the Task Force that charged out the Igbo from their properties in Port Harcourt which were then shared out by a Committee headed by Kenule Saro-Wiwa (Noteworthy that Ken Saro-Wiwa did apologize to the Igbo before Abacha his bosom friend and war-time ally, framed and eventually murdered him November 10, 1995).
That “Major David Bonaventure Mark” is the same stupendously rich former President of Nigeria’s Senate whose Idoma People are today being slaughtered by his Fulani Co-Genocidists.
To this date in May 2023, Nigeria denies that there was any Genocide in Eastern Nigeria neither did it redress the expropriation wrought by both the Abandoned Properties Decree and the £20-Per-Account Policy.
Today, Yoruba youth, agitating for a separate “Oodua Nation” are storming Radio Stations and Police Stations, declaring their total rejection of the Unitary Nigeria imposed on all by the 1967 Alliance.
Unless the Truth is Declared and Appropriate Remedies dictated by the Imperatives of Justice and Self-Determination are Deployed, the Unitary Nigeria built upon the pool of innocent blood and currently defined by the 1999 Constitution, has only one Destination: Violent Disintegration.
In the aftermath of the mangled 2023 Presidential Elections, the Propositions of NINAS Constitutional Force Majeure offers all a Template and Framework for an Orderly Union Renegotiation, Reconfiguration and Reconstruction. First Order of Business is that the Fraudulent 1999 Constitution which embodies the Unworkable Unitary Nigeria must be Decommissioned Forthwith via a Transitioning Arrangement that could be modeled after the 1990 CODESA by which South Africa eased itself out of the Apartheid Bind.
The two-map Illustration shows on the left side, the 1967 Alliance that isolated and encircled the “South-East” into a Dot-In-Circle while on the right ride, shows that the NINAS Alliance isolates the Sharia Caliphate.
It was that dying North/South-West Alliance of 1967 that Tinubu resuscitated in 2015 when he railroaded Buhari into office as the President of Nigeria, violently ousting President Goodluck Jonathan of the East. It was that 1967 Alliance that handed the Presidency Baton to Tinubu to take the turn of the Two-Sided Joint Venture at the Saddle, to the Exclusion of the East.
The NINAS Alliance has Defeated and Incapacitated the 1967 Alliance by Asphyxiating the 1999 Unitary Constitution that empower that 1967 Alliance.
The Inconclusive 2023 Presidential Election is the Bridge where the Long-Standing Nigerian Question will be Resolved.
